Independence

I was watching 'Wake Up Sid' last night, and one of the dialogues towards the end of the movie really struck a chord with me. Once, when Konkana Sen Sharma comes back from work, she finds her apartment spick-and-span. She then starts shouting at Ranbir Kapoor that she doesn't like it when someone cleans up her apartment, cooks for her, washes her clothes, dries and folds them up neatly, that she wants to do all these things herself, and needs no help from anyone. I am exactly like that. I simply hate it when someone tries to help me out with such things. Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate the gesture, but I feel I am too fiercely independent to take someone else's help with things that should be done by me.

That is one of the reasons I have never really understood the concepts of 'expensive bf/gfs' or 'sugar daddies' or other such things. I have never understood how can people live off someone else's earnings. Once you are married, it is probably another thing. (Though even then, I have my own issues with wives who milk their husbands, and vice versa). But how can boyfriends/girlfriends live on their partner's money?! I find it extremely weird. I can never imagine myself asking my partner to buy me a Gucci wallet or a Hugo Boss shirt. I would puke my guts out before asking anyone for such things.

For me, the ability to fend for oneself and the ability to stand on one's own feet are extremely extremely important. But many people confuse this with being career-minded. I personally don't think the two are interrelated.

Anyhow, on a seperate note, am addicted to Harivansh Rai Bachchan's Madhushala these days. Simply awesome.

Oh how I love this instinct of yours !..even I dont like anyone to spend on me..same here, fiercely independent and love those who are like me...cant understand the bf.gf who enjoy luxury at the cost of the other one.
I dont even want my children to take care of my expenses, and feel happier with whatever I can afford:)and I am a very happy person in life...dont know how to ex[plain..like I dont grudge anything:) and I thought that I am a different:)

Yeah, I guess I'm repelled with people who can't really stand up by themselves.

But it would be nice getting a... what was that? Hugo Boss shirt as a gift :)

Actually, I haven't worn a Hugo Boss shirt but I like the perfume. I think maybe because they make raunchy adverts :)

my son says that HUgo boss suits are evry well fitted and all that, but I feel puzzled by his addiction to any particular brand:)

@Rakesh and Renu -> Why have both of you gone bonkers over Hugo Boss?! :P
Actually they have good stuff, but it is frikkin expensive. Specially their line of clothing. And yes, agree with you Rakesh, the perfumes are too good, and not that expensive either.

I want a Hugo Boss too :(

And Gucci. And Prada.

Bah, I want a sugar daddy!

Okay, no I don't :P

I believe in giving unconditionally, knowing that it's going to come back in some form or other. A one-way relationship is no good, but nor is a zero-way.
It feels good to gift presents to close ones, and equally awesome to receive.
