The past week was busy as usual. Not only was it eventful in terms of how the world markets behaved, but I also made my first business trip this week.On Wednesday evening, I had to travel to the city shown in the pic above (take a guess, and it is not St.Petersburg). The worst part about the trip was that I had to travel with the person in my team I just do not get along with (the same guy who is the biggest shirker I have ever seen and offloads all his stuff on me).
Anyhow, we had meetings all day long on Thursday. And afterwards, we had dinner with one of our clients. Post dinner, we went to the most happening club in the city. And I have never seen a worse pick-up place than that. In (straight) clubs, I have seen guys eyeing girls, girls eyeing guys and both parties making cursory passes at each other. But never have I seen girls come onto guys full-on, guys stripping girls with their eyes and the girls loving it, anyone talking to anyone with the sole purpose of having a one-night stand. I was embarrassed and felt so out of place (more so cos it was a straight club).
It was a different experience in the sense that you don't even get to see such places in London (or maybe I haven't seen them). But I guess people in that country (the one I was visiting) are known for their promiscuity. And I had a first hand experience of that.
In the client meetings on Thursday, I screwed up badly at a couple of places. Neither did I know the size of my bank's balance sheet, nor did I know my bank's credit rating. It was quite embarrassing to say the least. I am really bad at numbers and my retention power is zero, if not negative.
After reaching the hotel at 1:30 at night, I immediately fell asleep. Just after 3 hours of sleep, I had to get up and get ready to go to the airport as I had to catch my flight back to London. And then the entire day on Friday I was practically dozing off at my seat. :-(

Hey Rebel,
Trust all's been well at your end. I took a couple of back-to-back holidays away from it all, hence was incommunicado.
I'm guessing u visited a Nordic capital to peddle your wares - was it Stockholm? Am shocked to hear that you (of all people) were scandalized and felt out of place in a place reeking of sin and debauchery - must have been a real, real bad place! We must visit again soon! ;)
I'm back 1st week of December. Let's catch up 2nd week?
well, I really cannot guess which city is that. come on, tell yaar !
that club is so interesting...i wish i was there to strip the clothes of those men (who is strtipping the women)...such flirty places are my cup of tea...boy, you need to go out with me to see how i play ...
I have no clue abt the place in question but it looks beautiful.
and who is this idiotic shirker who offloads his work on u? Y do u take his shit, y don't u escalate the matter?
and dear wht else do u expect at pick up joints!
and dont feel embarrassed abt goofing up..v all do it sometimes..its absolutely ok..
@Stray -> Hehe...no, it isnt Stockholm. It is Helsinki. Arre yaar I do get scandalized at such places - am just too seedha man. And yeah sure, give me a buzz whenever you are here and wanna meet.
@Prash -> It is Helsinki. Haha...I can't imagine u playing your eyegames in a club laa. I somehow cant do that. In a club, I am like the newly wed bride - eye always fixed on the ground, too shy to interact with anyone and sitting in a corner sipping wine. :(
@Swats -> Yaar there is this person in my team I always lock horns with. We just dont seem to get along. There is no point escalating the matter abhi.
Not only my eyes wander...I flirt around ! hahahahaha....when we go to a club, my bf always looses me because I would be dancing with somebody and sometimes with a girl on the pole ! ;-) LOL hahahahaha....
Ya, Helsinki, who would've thought that it would be so beautiful, when you think about Finland, all comes to your mind is cold weather ! ahahahaha....Next Tuesday (9th Dec) is the National Day for Finland and I would be going to their National Day celebrations here...looking forward for some good smoked salmon ! And a special treatment as the Consul General of Finland and his boyfriend are very good friends of mine!
@Prash -> lolzzz....i really laughed out loud when i read the first part of your comment...i cant flirt for my life...:(...
Helsinki is undoubtedly cold. It was already snowing when I was there.
Yeah the Finnish independence day is on 6th (Saturday). They might be celebrating it on Tuesday in HK. Make sure to drink Glogg. One of the best drinks I have had. Somewhat like the Kashmiri Kahwa, but better than that. I had the non-alcoholic one though. Am sure the alcoholic one would be equally good.
"Consul General of Finland and HIS boyfriend" -- is the entire frikkin world gay?!!!
"is the entire frikin world gay?"
Yes. They just don't know it yet.
@Prash -> Sorry for stalking, but it certainly isnt the Consul General of Finland you are talking about. The guy is married and has 2 children!!!! Anyways, don't want to go into more details else might be interpreted as an invasion of privacy. ;-)
@RW -> Hehe..dont know what to say to THAT. But I guess all these turn completely straight when in my company. :((
Ok, I really feel bad on talking about this...I just talked about my private life (and my friend who is in a diplomatical/political situation) here and to you because you always asked for it.
All I will say now is, the CG of Finland in HK is a very good friend of mine ! That's it ! No more comments, maybe we are talking about the same person or maybe not...it doesn't matter !
That being said, who said one cannot be gay even after having two children ?
What matters is I am expecting a nice treat coming Tuesday...Finns better treat me with nice champagne and smoked salmon ! ;-)
oh yes, it was stalking...how do you know HK diplomatic circle ?
@Prash -> It wasnt stalking laa. Plz dont hurl accusations at me no. hehehe. arre i just wanted to check out how hot the guy is. Anyways, and abt being gay after marriage and 2 children....errr...mmmm...i DO find that a bit weird and inappropriate.
Anyhow, enjoy your finnish party. Though am not particularly fond of finns to be honest. They are too cold for my taste. :(
i just repeated the word stalking ...you used it first ! ;-) who is to blame now ! hahahaha...
lets not judge people by saying "weird and inappropriate"... haven't you seen guys married and got kids who are gays ? it is a different generation and a different story. they didn't have internet when they were teenagers...
i actually like the nordic people, they are more talkative and speak much better english (than french or italian or spanish) and hence they can communicate with the rest of the world easily...only thing which bothers me in them is their complete blondness ! ....
I remember going to a jazz concert live in radio in hk... we were very mixed in the hall...indian, black, white, brown, chinese and all....all of a suddent a 40something artists came in with saxophones and all....everybody - blue eyed blonds...that looked so weird and the whole crowd looked at each other with a smile and a small comment here and there...
@Prash -> Yes I am aware that our previous generations have been at a disadvantage when it comes to these things. But still, if they are married and have children, they should remain closeted for the rest of their lives. Just my take. I know its very unfair to them, but if they come out, it would be very unfair to their family.
Nordic ppl are amazing. Very polite and well spoken. But I find finns very different. No wonder Finland is not considered a part of 'Scandinavia'. Finland had been under Russian occupation for quite a long time, that might have been one of the reasons. These ppl dont show a trace of emotion on their face when they speak. And I find that really disconcerting.
And yes - Scandis are blonde and blue eyed. Hahaha. The girls look like complete replicas of Barbie dolls. :))
Ahhhhh Finland....My darling Kimi's motherland :) How I wish to travel there ;)
But if all of Finland is like that, then...noooo....not coming there at all. Anyways Kimi aint there so whats the point :P
well, i have seen couple of my friends who did their coming out at a later stage to their children and explained the real reason why they divorced...and children just retorted saying "we were wondering when you are going to say us this"...well, this would happen only to those advanced societies in Scandinavian countries....what Finland is not in Scandinavia ? well, most people tend to include Finland, Sweden, and even Iceland in Scandinavia...in France "Scandinavian countries" means Denmark, Sweden, Norwary, Finland, and some times Iceland too...
And, I understand it is terrible for children on this aspect (when one of their parents say they are gay)...but at the same time, I have nothing against it...it is never too late !
I am way too "progressive" as the French say!
@Smriti -> Who is Kimi??!!!
@Prash -> I am ultra-progressive as well. But irrespective of how progressive one is, one should always keep the feelings of others into account.
Scandinavia actually is only Norway, Sweden and Denmark. If you include Finland and Iceland, it is called the Nordic Region. :)
