I am currently reading 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak. It is the story of a nine year old girl, Liesel Meminger, who evades death three times during The Holocaust. Though I have only read the first 30 pages (of the 550 odd), this book seems very different. And one of the reasons is that it is narrated by Death. A few lines that caught my eye are below (these lines have been said by Death) :" Here is a small fact. You are going to die.
I am in all truthfulness attempting to be cheerful about this topic, though most people find themselves hindered in believing me, no matter my protestations. Please, trust me. I most definitely can be cheerful. I can be amiable. Agreeable. Affable. And that's only the As. Just don't ask me to be nice. Nice has nothing to do with me. "Isn't it so strange that we humans conduct our lives in a fashion that screams immortality (invincibility, even)? Why is it we regard death as an alien entity until it really strikes? But when it does strike, how on earth does it matter, after all, whether we considered it alien or not?
Anyway, I have a feeling I am going to find this book really interesting - not because I romanticize death, or am charmed by the idea of dying, but because I just want to see things from a different perspective. Lets see. Will maybe write a review when I have finished reading it.

@Swats -> Those lines in quotations are not said by me. They have been taken from the book verbatim. So those lines have been said by 'Death'. ;-)

.. "Just don't ask me to be nice. Nice has nothing to do with me... " .

When i saw my blogroll and the title of this blogpost, something told me it had something to do with THE BOOK THIEF.
Oh this is one of my most favourite books EVER!!! I had written a review on it a while ago on my book blog, asking people to pick it up, coz frankly not many have heard of this one.And it is worthy of a read

I fell in love with Liesel's character...and the fact that it has got something to do with books, it compelled me to read it. I'm sure you'll love it. I'm currently on SYBIL (I know shouldve read it a long time back, but didnt). If u havent read it, try and pick it up sometime if u like..will be reviewing it once m done with it.
HAPPY READING :)
@Swats -> I have two favourite quotations/lines. Here :
Learn to laugh at your own troubles, and you'll never run out of things to laugh at!!!
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around...!
@Prash -> Hehe...thats a nice way of putting it. :-)
@RW -> I loved that line as well!! We think alike. :))
@Smriti -> Nice review. But I am a very slow reader. So dont know how many months I will take to finish this one. hehe. I hadn't heard about Sybil, but read abt it on the net. Seems very interesting. Will definitely pick it up. But there is another book in line right now - Purple Hibiscus. Don't know whether you have heard of it or not.
there is no point in living forever if we are getting older day by day...if we remain young (let's say 25 - 35) then, I am ready to live forever !
hey thats a nice book...i wanna read it too...
May be I wud also read it one day:) as my list is getting longer everyday:).I know one thing only that death is the only certainty in life.
